Torrential rainfall over the last few days has caused widespread flooding across central Vietnam. Hue received more than 1,000 mm of rainfall in 24 hours on 27 October. As of 29 October, the flooding caused nine casualties, while five others are missing. Authorities have evacuated tens of thousands of people from the flooded regions. The flooding has caused extensive power outages across the region, with more than 306,000 households and businesses in Hue, Danang, and Quang Tri provinces affected by blackouts. Transportation has also been severely impacted, including the suspension of rail services between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
