Thailand: Bhumjaithai Party Prepares for Coalition Talks After Electoral Win
The Bhumjaithai Party, Thailand’s ruling party led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, is expected to begin coalition talks soon following the general election on 08 February. As of 09 February, 94 percent of the ballots were counted, indicating a clear lead for the Bhumjaithai Party, which is expected to win at least 194 of the 500 parliamentary seats. The People’s Party, expected to be the runners-up of the election, has already ruled out the possibility of a coalition led by PM Anutin. The Bhumjaithai Party is likely to consider forming a coalition with smaller parties.
