US to Withdraw Military Troops from Syria
The United States plans to withdraw its remaining troops from Syria over the next few months. US troops have been stationed in Syria since 2015 to combat the influence of the Islamic State (IS) in the region. The decision to withdraw the troops comes after the Syrian government, led by interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, agreed to lead anti-terrorism campaigns within its borders. Last week, US troops left the al-Tanf garrison and the al-Shaddadi base, handing them over to Syrian forces.
