United States President Donald Trump hosted the first meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington, D.C., on 19 February. The organization was created to facilitate the end of the conflict between Israel and Hamas and is currently focused on implementing the second phase of the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire plan. President Trump announced during the meeting that several countries, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco, have signed up to contribute more than USD seven billion towards Gaza’s reconstruction. However, doubts remain about the effectiveness of the organization’s plans due to the wide scope of reconstruction required and negligible signs of Hamas disarming.
