Turkey: Seven Police Officers Injured in Clash with Suspected ISIS Militants

Seven Turkish police officers were injured on 29 December during a confrontation with suspected Islamic State (ISIS) militants in Yalova province, northwest Turkey. The clash occurred as security forces raided a residence suspected of harbouring extremist cells. The incident follows the detention of 115 suspected ISIS members last week by the Turkish police on suspicion of planning attacks targeting Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. Authorities have sealed off the road leading to the house and stated that the operations were ongoing. Heightened security measures and restrictions are expected to continue until investigations are concluded.
