Slovenia to Hold Parliamentary Elections in March
Slovenia is set to hold parliamentary elections on 22 March after a decree for the poll was signed by President Natasa Pirc-Musar. President Pirc-Musar stated that she wanted a new government to be formed quickly and would award the mandate to the party that wins 46 seats in the 90-member parliament. The country is currently governed by a coalition led by Prime Minister Robert Golob, including the Freedom Movement party, Social Democrats, and the Left. The election would be a significant challenge for the governing coalition amid increasing support for the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS), the main opposition party.
