The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have begun a new offensive eastward into the Kordofan region, consolidating gains after seizing control of Darfur, the army’s last major stronghold in the west. The escalations occur after the RSF signed a US-backed ceasefire on 06 November, which the Sudanese army had rejected. The intensified fighting, which increasingly involves drone strikes, is likely to worsen mass displacement and deepen a severe famine crisis in key areas like Kadugli.
