Parliamentary Elections Commence in Egypt
The first phase of Egypt’s parliamentary elections began on 10 November to elect members for its 596-seat House of Representatives. According to the National Elections Authority (NEA), final results for this phase are expected to be announced on 18 November. The primary domestic concern is the severe economic environment, characterized by high inflation and currency shortages, which the new parliament must address. Heightened security measures and traffic restrictions are expected near polling stations.
