Multiple Ships Attacked in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz
Two foreign fuel tankers were attacked in the Persian Gulf, and three cargo vessels were hit by ‘unknown projectiles’ in the Strait of Hormuz on 11 March. Additionally, a container ship near the coast of Jebel Al in the United Arab Emirates was also reported to be struck by unidentified projectiles. Iran has claimed responsibility for attacks on one of the cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz, following warnings that it would impose a complete oil blockade in the strait. At least 16 ships have been attacked so far since the start of the conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel. The strikes have escalated geopolitical tensions across the region, threatened crude shipments, and pressured global oil prices.
