Floods in Safi
Flash floods due to torrential rain over the last few days in Morocco’s coastal Safi region have caused at least 37 casualties. Around 70 homes and businesses were inundated due to the sudden rain. The floods also blocked multiple roads and led to the suspension of schools for three days. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the flood, which was potentially exacerbated by infrastructural issues. Rain is expected to persist till 16 December, worsening conditions in the region.
