Lebanon: More than 700,000 Displaced as Hostilities Escalate
More than 700,000 people have been displaced in Lebanon over the past week as the conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Lebanese paramilitary group Hezbollah continues escalating. On 09 March, Israel launched strikes in southern Lebanon and around Beirut’s southern suburbs. Israel has ordered the evacuation of residents from southern Lebanon and the eastern Bekaa Valley. According to Lebanese authorities, around 500 casualties have been recorded since the start of the attacks by Israel on 02 March. Hezbollah has launched rockets, missiles, and drones against Israeli military positions, setting off air raid sirens in central Israel, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem, and injuring at least four people.
