Lebanon has called for direct peace talks with Israel, mediated by the United States, to halt the renewed cross-border attacks between Israel and Hezbollah. Last week, the Lebanese government appealed to the US ambassador to Turkey, requesting intervention to stop fighting. Israel has not commented regarding the call for peace talks. The recent conflict has caused multiple casualties and displaced more than 700,000 people in Lebanon. The Lebanese government has condemned the Hezbollah military operations in Israel and aims to pursue wider diplomacy to secure a post-conflict framework that diminishes Hezbollah’s influence and stabilizes the border.
