Israel Strikes Yemen Following Houthi Drone Attack
On 25 September, Israel conducted a retaliatory air strike on Sanaa, the Houthi-held capital of Yemen, reportedly killing eight people and wounding more than 140. The strike targeted Houthi general staff headquarters and other security and intelligence sites. It followed a Houthi drone attack on Israel’s Eilat the previous day, which injured 22 people. The incident marks an escalation in direct military engagement between Israel and the Houthis. The situation increases regional instability and poses heightened security risks for commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Further retaliatory strikes from both sides cannot be discounted.
