Iran’s Foreign Minister to Visit Turkey

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is scheduled to visit Turkey to meet Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on 30 January. The ministers are expected to discuss the recent protests in Iran over the country’s economic conditions and heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. The meeting follows a statement from US President Donald Trump urging Iran to negotiate regarding a nuclear deal. Turkey, which shares a border with Iran and is a part of NATO, has offered to help resolve the tensions between US and Iran to prevent further escalation of regional tensions.
