Flash Floods in Spain Cause Multiple Casualties

Torrential rain over the weekend led to flooding in the southern and eastern provinces of Spain. The rain caused riverbeds to overflow and at least two casualties. Regional authorities issued red alert warnings in Valencia on 28 December and urged residents to remain indoors and on high ground. Transport was significantly disrupted due to the rain, as well as snow and hail across the country. Inundation may persist as yellow alerts remain active for heavy rain and strong winds in Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, Murcia and Valencia.
