Czech Republic: Andrej Babiš Appointed as Prime Minister

Andrej Babiš Appointed as Prime Minister
Czech President Petr Pavel officially appointed Andrej Babiš, leader of the ANO party, as Prime Minister on 09 December. Andrej Babiš, who has previously held the post from 2017 to 2021, is expected to take power on 15 December. The appointment comes after the ANO party won the most seats in the parliamentary elections in October and agreed to form a majority coalition government with two small political parties. His return could mean a potential regulatory and foreign policy shift, including decreased support for Ukraine and a more critical stance toward the European Union.
