The ANO (YES) party, led by former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, secured a victory in the Czech parliamentary election on 03–04 October 2025, winning the largest number of seats (80 out of 200) but falling short of an overall majority. The win marks a political comeback for Babiš, whose campaign advocated for reduced military aid to Ukraine and a “Czechs first” approach to EU policy. The formation of a new government is expected to be difficult, as mainstream parties have ruled out a coalition with ANO, forcing Babiš to seek support from the far-right Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) and Motorists parties.
