Voting for the general election, to elect members of the parliament, in Bangladesh began on 12 February. The election is a crucial vote for political stability following the student-led protests in 2024, which led to the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Coalitions led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Islamist Jamaat‑e‑Islami are seen as the frontrunners of the election. Additionally, a referendum on the July National Charter for constitutional reforms will also be held. Polling for the election will end by 1430 hours local time, and the results are likely to be announced by 13 February.
