Typhoon Ragasa Makes Landfall
On 22 September, Typhoon Ragasa has made landfall in the Philippines, causing thousands to evacuate and shutting down schools and government offices. The storm is bringing life-threatening storm surges and heavy flooding. Its impact has also been felt in Taiwan, where hundreds have been evacuated and services suspended. As the typhoon moves west, mainland Chinese authorities in Shenzhen are planning to evacuate 400,000 people. Hong Kong’s major airlines are cancelling hundreds of flights, with the international airport considering a 36-hour suspension of all passenger flights starting from 23 September.
