Thailand Suspends Peace Agreement with Cambodia

Thailand Suspends Peace Agreement with Cambodia
On 10 November, Thailand announced it would halt the peace agreement with Cambodia, following a landmine explosion near the border in Sisaket province that injured several Thai soldiers. The peace deal, signed in October, was mediated by Malaysia and the United States. An initial ceasefire was agreed in July to resolve the border conflict. The suspension ends all joint actions, including the planned release of 18 captured Cambodian soldiers. This development significantly escalates bilateral tensions. The immediate implication is a critical rise in security risk along the disputed border, threatening regional stability and risking civilian displacement.
