South Korea Investigates Alleged Drone Incursion into North Korea

South Korea has opened an investigation after North Korea alleged that South Korean drones crossed the border on two separate occasions. South Korea’s Defence Ministry has denied military involvement and stated that the investigation focused on the possibility that civilians may have flown the drone into North Korea. Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has accepted the South Korean military’s statement but demanded a clear explanation regarding the incursion. This incident complicates South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s administration’s efforts to resume stalled inter-Korean dialogue and may prompt a broader review of military monitoring across the country’s border.
