Multiple Casualties Following Pro-Iran Protests in Pakistan
Various demonstrations occurred in Pakistan following the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, due to strikes by Israel and the United States. Hundreds of people marched towards the US consulate in Karachi, leading to clashes between protestors and authorities. More than 30 people were injured in Karachi, while violence during protests in Islamabad led to two casualties, and violence in Gilgit-Baltistan led to 10 casualties. Authorities have implemented extensive road closures in Karachi as a precautionary measure, while a three-day curfew has been imposed in Gilgit and Skardu. Heightened security measures are expected to remain near US consulates in the coming days.
