India and UAE to Deepen Trade and Defence Ties
India and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to deepen their trade and strategic defence partnership after a meeting between the United Arab Emirates’ President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, India. The countries made seven major announcements and signed five key agreements, including the expansion of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The countries pledged to increase their bilateral trade to USD 200 billion in six years and to expand civil nuclear cooperation. India also signed a USD three billion deal to buy 0.5 million metric tonnes of liquefied natural gas from the UAE per annum over a period of ten years.
