Canadian PM Carney to Visit India in March
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to visit New Delhi, India, in early March to discuss the framework for a comprehensive economic partnership agreement with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The economic agreement with India is an attempt by Canada to diversify its trade partners and decrease dependency on the United States. The leaders had agreed to begin trade negotiations in November 2025 on the sidelines of the G20 meeting, with the countries aiming to increase bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2030. The countries may also sign agreements regarding artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and energy.
