Tropical Cyclone Narelle made landfall in far north Queensland, bringing rainfall and gusty winds. Authorities have issued warnings about potential threats from strong winds, heavy rain, flooding, and storm surges in coastal areas. Emergency warnings have been issued for the Lockhart River, Port Stewart, and Coen. The storm is expected to cause up to 500 mm of rain in parts of north Queensland, which is likely to result in severe flooding. Power outages and disruptions in communication services were reported in Cape York and Aurukun town. The tropical cyclone is expected to move across the Gulf of Carpentaria and then towards the Northern Territory.
