Australia: Torrential Rain Causes Flash Floods in Parts of Victoria

Torrential rain along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria led to flash floods that displaced more than 200 people and washed away multiple cars. The communities affected by the flood include Lorne, Separation Creek, Cumberland River, and Kennett River. The heavy rain was due to the aftereffects of ex-cyclone Koji, which had already caused flooding in various parts of Queensland over the week. Meteorologists forecast that damaging winds and heavy rain may persist on 16 January in Victoria, parts of Illawarra, and New South Wales. The extreme weather could lead to flight disruptions and road closures.
