Airport Workers Strike Across 15 South Korean Airports
On 1 October, approximately 2,300 unionized workers across 15 national airports in South Korea, including Incheon and Gimpo, began an indefinite strike demanding better pay and working conditions. The workers are primarily involved in non-security, facility-related roles such as cleaning and maintenance. Korea Airports Corporation stated that flight disruption will be limited, as security personnel are not participating and replacement workers have been deployed. However, the strike coincides with the peak Chuseok holiday travel season, raising the potential for congestion and service delays and posing minor operational risks for air travel logistics.
