Venezuelan Interim President Delcy Rodriguez met with United States envoy Laura Dogu in an attempt by both countries to restore diplomatic relations that were severed in 2019. The discussions were focused on energy, trade, stabilization, economic recovery, and political issues. Additionally, interim President Rodriguez also appointed several cabinet members, including former Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia as Venezuela’s “diplomatic representative” in the US. The meeting with the US envoy and the new cabinet appointments mark a transitional move by the new government after the ouster of President Nicolas Maduro last month.
