US – South Korea Trade Deal

US – South Korea Trade Deal
US announced a new trade deal with South Korea on 30 July, imposing a 15% tariff on imports, effective August 1. This rate is a reduction from the previously sanctioned 25% in April. As part of the agreement, South Korea has committed to investing USD 350 billion in US projects, including a shipbuilding partnership, and purchasing USD 100 billion in US liquefied natural gas and other energy products. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung welcomed the deal, stating it eliminates export uncertainty and positions South Korea favorably compared to other trading partners. This agreement aims to stabilize trade relations and eliminate export uncertainties for South Korea.
