United States President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to impose a new 10 percent global tariff rate from 24 February. The decision comes after the Supreme Court blocked the previous tariffs imposed by President Trump on 20 February, declaring most of them illegal. The US Customs and Border Protection agency also stated that it would halt collections of tariffs blocked by the Supreme Court. President Trump has maintained that the global tariffs are required to reduce the country’s trade deficit. The Supreme Court’s decision and the subsequent new tariff order have created uncertainties for businesses and about the validity of trade deals with various countries.
