The United States has imposed cyber-related sanctions on four individuals and three entities for the acquisition and distribution of cyber tools considered harmful to the country’s national security. The sanctioned parties included organizations based in Russia and the United Arab Emirates. The sanctions are related to an investigation into a former executive of a government contractor, who is accused of selling trade secrets to a buyer in Russia. Additionally, the US Department of State mentioned that one of the individual and two entities sanctioned are also designated under the “Protecting American Intellectual Property Act (PAIPA) in connection with theft of trade secrets from US persons”.
