A mass shooting occurred in the Barus and Holley Engineering Building at Brown University on 13 December. The attack resulted in two casualties and injuries to nine people. The incident triggered a large-scale law enforcement response and a campus-wide shelter-in-place order, which was lifted on 14 December. Although a person of interest was initially detained, they were later released due to insufficient evidence. Classes and exams have been cancelled following the incident.
