On 12 November, United States President Donald Trump signed a bill to end the 43-day government shutdown, the longest in the country’s history. The shutdown caused significant disruptions nationwide, including flight cancellations and delays. The bill will extend last year’s spending levels through the end of January 2026 for most of the government and provide funding for some federal agencies till the end of September 2026. Additionally, the bill would reverse layoffs and provide paybacks for federal employees. However, it may take a few days for normal operations of the government and other programmes to resume.
