Trump Approves First Ukraine Arms Aid Funded by Allies
Reports suggest that the Trump administration has approved its first US weapons aid packages for Ukraine under a new mechanism funded by NATO allies on 16 September. This marks the first use of a system developed by the US and its partners to supply Ukraine with weapons from American military stockpiles, with NATO countries covering the costs. The mechanism, known as the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), begins with up to two shipments worth USD 500 million each, potentially reaching USD 10 billion in total, including urgently needed air defense systems, according to Reuters.
