South Korean President Meets Trump at White House
On 25 August, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung will meet US President Donald Trump in Washington for a summit on trade and security. The talks follow a July agreement in which Washington lowered its proposed reciprocal tariff on South Korea to 15% from 25%. The leaders are expected to advance a framework deal involving USD 350 billion in South Korean investments and USD 100 billion in U.S. energy purchases. Discussions will also cover defence spending, military alliance modernization, and the U.S. troop presence. The summit will be closely watched for its implications on both trade and security ties.
