President Trump Expands US Travel Ban List
United States President Donald Trump signed a decree to expand the list of countries with travel restrictions to 39 on 16 December. The restrictions, which come into effect on 01 January 2026, include a full-entry ban for countries such as Laos, Sierra Leone, Mali, and Syria. Additionally, partial restrictions will be in place for 15 countries, including Nigeria, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. This decision comes amid the President Trump administration’s efforts to address immigration related issues in the country.
