Landslide in Amazon Region
A landslide struck two boats docked at a river port in Peru’s Amazon rainforest region, leading to at least 12 casualties and injuries to around 20 people. The landslide was caused due to bank erosion of the Ucayali River in Iparia. Rescue operations are ongoing with the help of national police and navy units to locate two unaccounted people but are significantly hindered by fast-flowing river water.
