India, Europe Suspend Postal Services to US Over Tariff Changes
Postal services in India and several European countries have temporarily suspended most package shipments to the US Announcements began on 23 August and were made in response to the end of the “de minimis” exemption, which previously allowed duty-free entry for goods under USD 800. Services, including Royal Mail and Poste Italiane, cite a lack of clarity on new customs procedures and insufficient time to update their systems. The disruption began ahead of the 29 August deadline for the new tariffs and is significantly impacting global e-commerce and logistics.
