The Honduran electoral authority, CNE, has declared Nasry Asfura as the winner of the presidential election that took place on 30 November. According to CNE, Nasry Asfura won 40.3 percent of the vote, while Liberal Party candidate Salvador Nasralla gained 39.5 percent of the votes. Nasry Asfura will take office on 27 January. The election results come after weeks of electoral delays, allegations of fraud, and protests. The Liberal Party, the incumbent LIBRE party, and the head of the Honduran Congress have rejected the results, which may lead to political tensions and civil unrest.
