Supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro protested in several cities against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes on 03 August. The protests called for amnesty for individuals involved in post-2022 election events and asked for the impeachment of Lula and Moraes. The rallies took place amid Bolsonaro’s ongoing trial for allegedly attempting to subvert the election outcome of 2022. The demonstrations followed US President Donald Trump’s imposition of sanctions on Justice Moraes and a 50% tariff on Brazilian imports. Bolsonaro, who is currently under house arrest, addressed the protest in Rio de Janeiro by phone.
