Air Canada to Cancel Flights Amidst Potential Strike
Air Canada has begun a gradual suspension of flights ahead of a potential strike by its flight attendants. The union, representing over 10,000 flight attendants, issued a 72-hour strike notice after contract negotiations reached an impasse over “poverty wages” and compensation for unpaid groundwork. In response, Air Canada issued a lockout notice, with a complete cessation of flights for Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge expected by Saturday. The airline has stated it will notify affected customers, offer refunds, and provide alternative travel options where possible.
