Bomb blasts in three locations in Maiduguri, Borno State, have led to at least 23 casualties and injuries to over 200 people. Authorities suspect that the blasts, which occurred at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and two local markets, could be suicide bombings. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Borno state has seen a rise in attacks by different armed groups like Boko Haram and the ISIL (ISIS) affiliate in the West Africa Province (ISWAP) group, targeting army bases. Heightened security measures are expected to remain around the impacted sites while authorities investigate the attacks.
