The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won 182 seats in the final tally of the Nepal elections announced on 12 March. The RSP’s landslide win has become the biggest win for a single party in the country in decades. The Nepali Congress won 38 seats, while the Communist Party of Nepal UML (CPN-UML) won 25 seats. The RSP would be tasked with ensuring political stability and upholding its promises during the election campaign, which focused on addressing issues such as unemployment and economic stagnation. RSP’s leader Balendra Shah is set to become the country’s next prime minister, but the official confirmation may take several days.
