Thailand’s election commission has certified 499 of 500 parliamentary seats won in the general election conducted in February. According to the certified results, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s Bhumjaithai Party has won 191 seats, the People’s Party secured 120 seats, the Pheu Thai Party won 74 seats, and Kla Tham gained 58 seats. Following certification, the new parliament must meet within 15 days to elect a speaker, deputy speaker, and the prime minister. The Prime Minister will then form a new government, which is expected to begin working in April. The Bhumjaithai Party is expected to form a coalition with Pheu Thai and several smaller parties.
