Cuba: Millions Without Power due to Widespread Blackout
A widespread blackout in Cuba has left millions of people without power, including in Havana. According to the country’s electric company, Union Electrica UNE, the blackout was caused by an unexpected outage at the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant. The agency has started working to restore power, but it is expected to take around three to four days for complete restoration. The blackout occurred amid increased pressure due to the oil blockade by the United States and decreasing oil reserves.
