United States President Donald Trump has stated that the country would impose a full trade embargo on Spain. The announcement comes after Spain refused to let the US military use its bases in the country to carry out strikes on Iran. Subsequently, the US has relocated 15 aircraft from the Rota and Moron military bases in southern Spain. As Spain is part of the European Union bloc, the imposition of a trade embargo on a member would be complicated. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has spoken to President Trump in a private meeting and mentioned that Spain could not be excluded from the trade agreement reached between the EU and the US.
