French President Macron to Outline Nuclear Plans
French President Emmanuel Macron will deliver a major address on 02 March, updating the country’s nuclear doctrine. This would be the first speech regarding the country’s nuclear deterrent since President Macron’s speech in 2020. France and the United Kingdom are the only two European Union countries that have nuclear weapons. The remaining EU countries have sought to enhance their defence capabilities following the Russia-Ukraine war and concerns about the United States’ commitment to Europe’s security following the re-election of President Donald Trump.
