Mexico: Drug Cartel Leader Killed During Military Raid
Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho”, leader of the Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) drug cartel, was killed during a security operation by the Mexican military in the town of Tapalpa, Jalisco. Clashes occurred between CJNG supporters and army personnel, leading to the death of four other CJNG members and injuries to three army officers. Following the operation, violence and roadblocks were reported across the country. Authorities in Jalisco, Michoacan, and Guanajuato reported at least 14 dead, including seven National Guard troops. Due to the situation, multiple domestic and international airlines have cancelled flights. Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus had asked residents to remain at home and suspended all public transportation.
