Iran, US Agree on Guiding Principles for Nuclear Talks
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Iran and the United States have agreed on the main ‘guiding principles’ for talks regarding Iran’s nuclear programme. The statement follows indirect talks between US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Foreign Minister Araqchi in Geneva, which were mediated by Oman. The discussions come amid an increase in US military buildup in the region and military drills by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. Although the initial talks have led to a constructive understanding, it remains unclear whether a nuclear deal between the countries will be agreed upon.
