The United States and Armenia have agreed to cooperate in the civil nuclear sector during a meeting between US Vice President JD Vance and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Vice President Vance is on a two-day visit to Armenia aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries. The agreement allows for an initial export of up to USD five billion in nuclear technology from the US to Armenia, as well as an additional USD four billion long-term fuel and maintenance contracts. This is a significant deal for Armenia as it aims to construct a new nuclear reactor to replace its old Russian-built nuclear power plant.
